Creating Conversations Worth Having

Beyond The Book

I develop, curate, and moderate conversations for bookish spaces. From creating panel concepts and themes to researching authors, developing thoughtful questions, and moderating the final event, I help build programming that feels intentional, engaging, and worth attending.

As an LCSW, trauma therapist, speaker, moderator, and author, I bring expertise in religious trauma, cult recovery, identity exploration, gender, sexuality, mental health, and the ways these experiences show up in literature. I use that background to develop panels and conversations with depth while keeping them accessible to both authors and audiences.

My work includes moderating panels at book conventions and festivals, hosting bookstore conversations and author events, conducting author interviews, developing questions and programming for literary events, participating in press and media conversations, and speaking about the intersections of books, identity, trauma, and mental health.

Whether I’m developing a panel from the first idea, interviewing an author about their newest release, or stepping onstage to moderate a conversation, I bring research, active listening, audience awareness, and an understanding of how to ask questions that move beyond surface-level talking points. My goal is to create bookish conversations where authors have room to say something meaningful, and audiences leave with something worth thinking about.

❋ Author Interviews

No one needs another author interview full of questions you could answer from the book jacket. I do the research, find the interesting threads, and ask questions that get into the heart of the book, the writing process, and the ideas underneath it all. The goal is a conversation that feels natural, thoughtful, and genuinely fun to listen to.

❋ Panel Curations

Have a bunch of authors and need to figure out what to do with them? This is my favorite kind of puzzle. I develop panel concepts, find the connecting themes, curate the questions, and help shape the conversation before anyone ever gets onstage. You bring me the authors, the event, or even the beginning of an idea, and I help turn it into a panel people want to attend.

❋ Panel Moderation

A good panel should feel like a great conversation, not five people taking turns answering the same question. I keep things moving, follow the interesting threads when they show up, make sure everyone gets space to speak, and know when to dig a little deeper. I bring preparation and structure without making the conversation feel scripted.

❋ Speaking Opportunities

Put me in front of a microphone and give me something meaningful to talk about. As an LCSW, trauma therapist, author, and speaker, I talk about religious trauma, cult recovery, queer identity, gender, sexuality, mental health, representation, books, and all the messy places those topics intersect. I’m available for conferences, bookstores, festivals, podcasts, press, educational events, and conversations that need a therapist who knows how to talk like a person.
